A full line of optical polishing pitch that is made from wood resin to prevent contamination of the polishing media or substrate and comes in five hardness grades is available from Meller Optics, Inc. of Providence, RI.
Meller Gugolz Optical Polishing Pitch is made from all-natural wood resin rather than petroleum by-products, to prevent contamination of the polishing media or substrate. Featuring five grades from very-soft to very-hard, with melting points from 52°C to 87°C, this lapping pitch is ready to use without screening, filtering, or mixing additives; simply slice it, melt, and pour.
Ideally suited for blocking, lapping, and polishing, Meller Gugolz Optical Polishing Pitch can be used for applications with CaF2, germanium, quartz, ZnSe, ZnS, silicon, and other optical materials. All five grades of the pitch are fully compatible, allowing users to precisely match their substrate finishing requirements.
Meller’s Gugolz Optical Polishing Pitch is priced per 1 kg. container; available in boxes of 12 containers.
